The World Health Organization defines health as " a state of complete physical, mental, and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
We used to define health only as a state of non-illness. However, with America's current health crisis of rapidly rising rates of chronic disease, obesity and mental health disorders; we realize that the health of our general population is fragile. We need to approach our health concerns on a much broader scope and from a very different perspective. That's why the concept of holistic wellness began and why it continues to be so relevant. We need a multidimensional approach that integrates all of our layers into a holistic state of well being. When we approach our health considering all it's complexities, only then can we really begin to develop a plan that encompasses quality in every aspect of our lives and allows us to move towards a state of vibrancy in all areas of our journey.
